Source-less analysis: Why esports conclusions need data to survive

Today I received an esports analysis document with no match title, no game version, and no team name. All sections show insufficient information. If this were a post-match review, it could not answer the first question: which match? The real issue is not an empty document; it is that many readers still share conclusions without seeing raw data. In the Bundesliga, I learned that spectators may misremember a moment, but cameras and tracking data do not. In esports, without data, a story is only rumour. A good analysis framework must start from a source. The article title is missing; the tournament name is missing; the statistical figures are missing. All seven analytical layers, from meta, format, roster, region, finance, regulation to risk, cannot operate. This shows that the problem is not weak data but a broken editorial process from the very beginning. I often say: curses do not exist; there is only data we have not read fully. But in this document, the curse takes another form: data was never provided, and readers are forced to guess. Empty stadiums were once football's greatest laboratory; an analysis room without data becomes a room full of bias. So, if an article has no verifiable source, ask immediately: who collected the numbers, how many matches are in the sample, and where can the conclusion be cross-checked? Do not accept a curse when you have never seen the numbers.
